Lake County, Ohio, located in the northeast corner of the state, 25 miles East of Cleveland, is situated on the shorelines of Lake Erie. With it's rolling hills and lake scenery, we experience a multitude of weather extremes. From hot, humid and stormy weather of the springs and summers, to the blizzards and freezing weather of the winters, it's no wonder that Lake County needs all the preparedness possible. The only weather dangers that we have not experienced are hurricanes and tsunami....and we hope to keep it that way! Please visit the Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness web site. They offer informational education for the public on severe weather safety and preparedness. Committee members include the American Red Cross, National Weather Service, Ohio Emergency Management Agency, Ohio Insurance Institute, Ohio News Network, State Fire Marshal, Emergency Management Association of Ohio and the Ohio Departments of Aging, Education, Health, Insurance and Natural Resources.
