MARRIAGE LICENSE

Procedure:

  • Bride or Groom must be a resident of Lake County. Couples from out-of-state may apply for a marriage license in Lake County, but the ceremony must be solemnized within the boundaries of Lake County. Must also disclose who will marry the couple.
  • Proof of Residency – A driver’s license, passport, green card, or state identification card is required to prove residency. If the current address of the resident is not the same as the address on an identification card, a utility bill or other legal document proving residency is required.
  • Must be 21 years old. Call before visiting the marriage department if either individual is not 21.
  • If you are divorced you must present copies of all divorce decrees.
  • The most recent divorce decree must be a certified copy that states it is a judgment entry of divorce, dissolution of marriage, or annulment, and must also show a file stamped date, case number, judge’s signature, and the county seal where the divorce was granted.
