MINOR GUARDIANSHIP OF ESTATE

Procedure:

  • Application must be accompanied with a copy of the minor’s birth certificate. A bond must be posted on or before the hearing. The bond should be twice the amount of the personal property.
  • A hearing will be scheduled within approximately 30 days of filing the application.
  • Applicant, minor, and attorney must be present at hearing.
  • Letter of Guardianship will be issued after the hearing.
  • Inventory is due within 3 months from date of appointment.
  • An account is due 1 year from date of appointment.
  • Accounts are due annually until the minor is 18 years old.
  • A final account is required to close the guardianship.
