MINOR GUARDIANSHIP OF PERSON

Procedure:

  • Application for Appointment of Guardian should be filed along with a copy of minor’s birth certificate.
  • The Court does not accept guardianship applications for minors if another court has jurisdiction (domestic or juvenile).
  • A hearing will be scheduled within 30 days of filing the application.
  • Applicant, minor, and attorney must be present at hearing.
  • Letters of Guardianship will be issued after the hearing.
  • A yearly status letter is due.
  • Guardianship of a minor will terminate when he or she turns 18.
